Half Moon Cay is HAL’s premiere Caribbean cruise port. Most all of HAL Caribbean cruises include a stop at Half Moon Cay.

Your port day starts with a large tender boat ride to the island. HAL offers many excursions including horse back riding, yoga classes and sting ray encounters. Various villas, cabanas and clam shells are available for rent for the day. Some even offer butler service!

We rented a villa with family and friends which is very affordable when you can split the cost. Adding the butler makes it an amazing day! “Butlers” are actually Pinnacle Grill servers. The assigned butler meets you at your cabin and escorts your party to the island. Holland America Line staff are the best; so friendly and personable!

End of the day view of the ship before leaving the island.

Highlights of the port:

The two story villas include a hot tub, private bathroom with shower, kitchenette, dining table with seating for eight, four lounge chairs, and a refrigerator. The rental includes complementary sodas, chips, salsa, guacamole, shrimp, crudités, lobster sandwiches and a steak or fish dinner. All alcohol drinks are included when you add the butler service. Your butler takes your drink order, runs to the bar and delivers drinks to you throughout the day.

The island has a nice BBQ buffet which is included in your cruise fair. For a real treat, check out the Lobster Shack restaurant. You can pre-order your lobster meal with your dining room server. The lobsters are grilled, with a wonderful smoky flavor and served with dirty rice and mango salsa. You can also add a seafood chowder to your order. It’s a highly recommended tasty meal!

A beach villa is expensive but it is a really wonderful exclusive VIP experience on Half Moon Cay.
